Iroquois County's Times-Republic in Watseka, Ill., has an immediate opening for a sports reporter. The Times-Republic is an award-winning newspaper and the only daily newspaper in Iroquois County. We cover all prep sports for nine schools, as well as summer and youth leagues. There are also opportunities to cover some college and professional sports, including the Chicago Bears camp in Bourbonnais and University of Illinois sports. This is a full-time sports reporter's position. Competitive salary and benefits. There are opportunities for advancement with other newspapers in our group for the right person. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for local sports. The right candidate will also have strong writing skills and photography and InDesign knowledge. The Times-Republic has a growing social media following, and we are seeking someone with social media and video knowledge. There will be work at night and on weekends. Send resume and clips to Carla Waters, Managing Editor, cwaters@intranix.com.

I like the coverage opportunities but is the pay scale above 25k? A good job for someone right out of school to get some good clips.
