Advertising and the NFL being what they are, if AB were to pull out,
plenty of other accounts would line up to get a shot at that audience.

A master class in incompetent PR by the Vikings.

I think Peterson pleads, gets his six from Goodell, and is back in week 11 or 12.

It's poor PR, yeah, but it may have taken the backlash for Peterson to understand that saving all this for March is an insult to pretty much everyone.

Breaking: Peterson put on exempt list early Wednesday morning, must stay away from team.

Seriously, are there any competent people in any front office, or the league office?

Unfortunately, this is probably correct, which brings this exercise full circle. Too many of us are willing to turn off our moral compass as long as it means we can sell another widget, keep another viewer, scam another season ticket-holder.

This could go on the Rice thread, or any of the NFL threads for that matter, but this is the beginning of the end for Goodell.....

Anheuser-Busch, which is a 200 million dollar per year cash cow, says it is disappointed and concerned about the way things are being handled by the league. Just to piggyback onto it, so did Visa, Pepsi, Campbell's Soup.

When the dollars start going away, so does Roger.

I think I did post it on the Rice thread, but it's cool to put it here too.

McDonald's has also jumped on board:

It's real now. A-B, McDonald's, Visa, etc. are voices that owners will take seriously.

It was so predictable, the moment the Vikings announced that Peterson would play on Sunday, that they would need to reverse the decision.

How did they not see this? Did they talk to anyone outside the four walls of their won building before they decided he should play?

And, here's one thing about the sponsors: not only do they spend money, but they can burst the bubble these guys live in. The Ravens and the Vikings heard from their fans that they wanted Rice and Peterson to play. The sponsors heard from their consumers that they were offended by the relationship between the team and the brand.

The folks at these companies can actually get a hold of someone at the team and/or the league and make them listen.
