Six of our 12 schools opened their season tonight. The other six open tomorrow night.

MN has an eight-game regular season before section playoffs start. The MSHSL will switch from a section playoff format to district playoffs in 2015.

Actually districts only involve regular season games. The section playoff format in Minnesota will remain the same once the districts system beings in 2015.

"Johnson said a lot of work has to be done before the new process takes place in 2015. The postseason process will not change; teams will remain in their sections for the playoffs."

We had a pretty good night as well except for that 56-50 overtime game that both properties needed. I would have bagged it for the property with the early deadline, but it involved a No. 1 team with back-to-back state titles against a ranked team in a higher class.

The first football Friday was awesome. Met a friend for pre-game dinner at a great pizza joint. Then, we watched our HS pummel a country rival while gambling throughout. Got a jump on the traffic out of the school and made it home in time to catch most of the Nats game. No complaints. :)
