  2. That article is hardly definitive.
In fact, it raises more questions than answers and does not say anything about Davis or any other kid related to their age. The article is more about the base from which the teams draws its players; it's significantly larger than the base from its opponents. And the reporter doesn't really get an answer as to why.

  3. I understand where QT is coming from. That sort of cock-eyed optimism is great.
I've learned if something is too good to be true it probably is.

I hope Davis is legit. I do. But I won't be a bit surprised if she's not.

I just come from the POV that "Why worry about something negative before you have to?:" Doesn't hurt to believe in something good does it? What's the harm there?

I just looked at a photo gallery of her on SI (http://www.si.com/more-sports/photos/2014/08/19/mone-davis-takes-little-league-world-series-storm#1) and she's not that imposing physically, but has really nice fundamentals (front foot lands straight, two arms in sync). She's a great story and I hope an inspiration to girls out there to strive to excel in athletics without worrying about gender boundaries, real or perceived.

I clicked on the gallery and each pic is accompanied by a viagra ad on the left. Jesus Christ.

Yeah, I wasn't saying you said 77. It just made me recall that Alvey kid from Kentucky a few years ago who was pushing 80.

That local travel team? Their ace has been clocked at 75. He also got rocked at states.

And I still think their kids are of age. They've been asked to pull their birth certificates plenty.

Very nice article to read. I only wish there were more stories like this more often at the LLWS.

I think a lot of the age questions will go away when they implement the new deadline of December 31 in four years. Right now a kid can be 13 years 3 months at Williamsport. In the new system the max age will be 12 years 7 months. That eliminates a huge chunk of the growth curve.

The Collier Township coach, which isn't far from where my mother lives now, came across as the quintessential ass.

"Guess they're trying to prop up baseball in the inner city now." Yeah, watch a Major League game and you hear the announcers talking about it all of the time.

And why the hell is that so bad?

Yeah, LL officials told the team Philly beat to lay down in the name of propping up the inner city team.

The jinx is working fast -- after two batters it's 1-0 Nevada with a runner at third.

Dang -- and then she whiffs the 3-4-5 hitters. This is the powerhouse team of the tournament too.
