Do you really think there isn't a political agenda that drives the coverage of white co-ed, and gives air time to the father of a victim, who blames the NRA, all while ignoring the black on black killings in the inner city?

I'm familiar with the Chicago Tribune, so I assume it's widely read across the country.

No. Because black on black killings in the inner city are not ignored.

I will grant a certain amount of white privilege paradigm, mainly on the part of viewers/readers. The news media can't control what they find important, nor should we.

Do you think suburban parents and friends with presumably better financial means and education might react differently than parents and friends who live in poverty? Do you think communities that face a tragedy like this once every five years might react differently than places that have 10 shootings a week?

The kids in crime- and violence-plagued communities deserve more care and attention than they're getting.

Unless they're Central American. Fuck those kids.

Yep. People get shot all the time. No story hère. No big deal.

48 hours did a hourlong special on it a month ago:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/48-hours-investigates-the-war-in-chicago/

CNN had a show called "Chicagoland," which is not entirely about the violence, but does it weave it into the story.

    http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/us/chicagoland

The leaders in Chicago talk a lot about it.

Talk being the operative word, Alma.

    Also, "Chicagoland" has been discredited.

They don't talk about it at all unless it's white people.

They only talk about it locally, not nationally.

They talk about it nationally, but that doesn't count because politics.

Politicians talk about it nationally, but that's only talk.

    All simultaneously.

No wonder it's so hard to have a "national conversation."

YF's theory is no more ridiculous than the assertion that this a national story because it's on the front page of the Tribune.

What's better? Front page of the Chicago Tribune, or a Charles Blow column?

    Sending a hard copy to:

    Charles Blow
    Provocateur Extraordinaire
New York Times, New York 1001

... and hoping he pushes the Trayvonian Agenda.
