    Company: Alaska Dispatch
    Position:
    Alaska sports reporter
    Location:
    Anchorage, Alaska
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: Negotiable

    Description:

Alaska Dispatch News, Alaska's largest news website and newspaper, is looking for a sports writer to help us generate compelling stories for and about Alaskans in a place where extreme sports pre-date the X Games by a century or more.

We emphasize local and statewide sports, and Anchorage is a huge participatory city, so think lots of preps, some Division II college sports and lots of "recreational" sports (lots of past and present Olympians live here, and they join the crowd in 50-K ski races and marathon-length wilderness races).

You'd be part of a three-person staff and your job would include producing daily brief packages, answering phones and maintaining our master calendar of events. You'll also cover events, so you need to know how to keep stats at a football game.

Schedule includes nights, weekends and some holidays.

Requirements include filing stories on deadline, knowledge of a wide variety of sports, and a desire to tell stories that aren't just about final scores. A couple of years' experience at a daily website or newspaper is ideal.

We offer health benefits, a 401-K and paid vacation. To apply, send a brief cover letter and links to three of your sports stories, including one game story and one feature, to sports@adn.com.
