The StarNews in Wilmington N.C. is seeking a sports production leader to give our readers a new look at sports across all of our platforms.

We want a designer with deadline daily newspaper experience to help our writers continue to improve their ability to think about a story visually. We regularly win writing awards in state and national contests; now we want the visuals to match. This person can write good headlines for the print edition and also adapt to bring hits to our website. We need someone who can handle the rush of Friday night football as well as the long-term thinking for proper presentation of bigger projects. This full-time employee will work closely with the full department – clerks, writers, sports editor — to get deadline stories online efficiently and accurately. We require proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop, as well as strong knowledge of Associated Press style.

The Wilmington StarNews is a 38,000-daily circulation newspaper located 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and three great beaches. Qualified applicants should send a cover letter, resume, references and clips (three maximum, please) to Sports Editor Dan Spears at Dan.Spears@StarNewsOnline.com or c/o the StarNews, 1003 S. 17th St., Wilmington NC 28401
