RIP. The courage of his dad to speak about this amazes me.

Having dealt with Bob in the past, I am deeply saddened by his loss.

That is truly sad news.

I know few people in this business better than Bob Ryan.

What an absolute punch in the gut. I lost a 16-year-old son four years ago and Bob is right. Devastating is the only word that comes into play.
Pray for the guy. It's the only thing that gets you through this.

Ran into Mr. Ryan at an assignment eight years ago. Was a total gentleman to a small-timer such as myself.

I can't say I know anything about Bob Ryan other than the persona he portrayed on Pardon The Interruption. My sympathies to him and his family nonetheless.

God, how horrible....leaves behind 8-yr-old triplets and a wife.  What a sad sad story.

i've had the pleasure of knowing bob for 25 years, ever since he befriended a 25-year-old covering the knicks. we've since spent time together at many patriots games and super bowls.

i'm devastated for him. prayers all around.  Cry Cry Cry

Condolences to the family. I can only imagine how difficult of a story that was to write for Marquard, but he did a good job.

I feel absolutely terrible for Bob. My prayers are with him and his entire family.

I barely know him, but met him about 20 years ago when I was a scrub writer going out to do a sidebar on an NBA game with Celtics in town, and when I walked into press room, Ryan stopped typing and introduced himself to me and we chatted a few minutes. He instantly made me feel like one of the guys, even though he was a legend even then, writing for the best sports section in the country.

Unbelievable guy. God bless you, Bob.

For those who know him, pass along all these condolences and prayer offers. And, mine, too.

So sad.
