Duke fanboy loosers think Dookie V's ESPN is unfair to the Blue Devils?

Incredible, but true. What? Did ESPN have the gall to cast the People's Republic of Kryzyzewskiville in a negative light? How about getting a thicker skin! Here's the ramblings from Duke Basketball Report:
Quote
As you know, the Duke-Wisconsin game is on ESPN Tuesday night. ESPN will come in and do their usual thing - if Vitale is there, he’ll play along with the Crazies. The cameras will pan along the sidewalks and then along the bleachers, trying to get shots of you guys, all happy and energetic and waving, because that crowd shot is worth millions to ESPN, frankly. We’re not even referring to Duke; we’re talking about that shot in every gym they go to. That is a really key shot for their broadcast: just look how often it shows up on Sports Center. But while the crew in Durham is performing the usual shtick, flirting with the crowd and so on, other parts of the empire are actively attacking Duke.
So since in many respects, they’ve given Duke the bird, why is it that people continue to dance to their tune when they come into Cameron?
On the one hand, they love to come here, because they know they’ll get the ratings and the cool crowd shots, but on the other, why should anyone cooperate with them when they have, more than once now, crossed the line into either just terrible reporting or cynical exploitation of a marketing opportunity?
Well, here it is: Duke fans, and specifically the Crazies, have a chance to hold ESPN accountable. It would be great to deny them that money shot of Crazies in full splendor. It would be classic if, rather than that, whenever the camera panned over them, the Crazies just crossed their arms en masse and stared at the camera until it went away. It would be a mild but effective protest. It probably wouldn’t be as hard to explain as signs and cheers against the Bullies from Bristol, but hey - you guys are creative. We’re sure if you want to let ESPN know you object to their recent maltreatment of one of their major moneymakers, you can come up with something.
It would be fun, and rather fascinating, to turn their cameras against them, and then see how they explain it on the air. And everything else aside, ordinary people don’t get many chances to sock a major media company in the nose. That’s a story you can tell forever.

It would be an interesting protest on its own -- deny ESPN their cliched golden gooses -- but the motivation behind this reaches an elevated plane of dipshitery.
Is that anti-Duke Youtube "You Fucking Suck" video still up?

No it was a Duke video because at one point it made a (inappropriate ... cough ... hiliarious) reference to the Duke rape case. I think Moddy originally posted it.

Um, how is ESPN supposed to have given Duke the bird? It really doesn't mention anything specific in the posted excerpt.

My guess is they're overreacting like the bitches they are to the coverage of the Duke rape case?

The other day, I was in College Joe's shop in Lawrence and passed on a shirt with the Duke font and colors that read "Puke." Reading that, I wish I would have bought it now.

Yeah, because no other 20-year-old ever acts like a douche that goes to any other school.
Seriously? Rants on a fan board? That's the best you can do?

Actually, you can't characterize this as "rants on a fan board." This is the opinion of the people who run this site, which actually is a decent site for links and one I go to regularly even though I'm not a Duke fan. Sometimes their opinions are on target, but not this one. And, as GB-Hack points out, there is no specific comment that it cites.

But the people that run the site ARE FANS. And I won't defend fans of any team, as I don't think they represent the team in any way.
I liked the Browns. Didn't like the fans that threw batteries.
I like Duke. Don't like douchey fans.
Drawing a comparison is weak.

One could say "xxx wouldn't be anything without ESPN" for a lot of sports entities, but Duke basketball has got quite the magic carpet ride from ESPN for 20 years. Their fans protesting the network is hilarious.

They're definitely delusional fans.
Not that he's done this again since then, but I remember Krzyzewski dressing down a Duke Chronicle (the student newspaper) reporter over writing something negative. So I don't think that it's just some (not all) fans who need to get a thicker skin.

Here's the thing, though, playthrough.
Any team at the top gets the "magic carpet ride" from ESPN. Kentucky does/did. I know. I watched it all the time in college when they were playing in three straight title games, winning two of them.
It doesn't negate the fact that they can still question the way stories are presented, especially stories not about the basketball team. If this is, in fact, about the rape case, then the students/fans can do what they want without being called bitches.
Instance, just because my paper may cover a team that has won three state titles in the past four years doesn't mean fans can't bitch if we misidentify a player.
Sucking up 90 percent of the time doesn't change the fact that these students feel the reporting was shoddy (again, assuming that's what this is about).

This is the video Bubbler is talking about. It's a parody of "This is Why I'm Hot."

That's the problem with DBR's rant: It never specifically says what ESPN did to upset them. You could guess that it was coverage of the rape case. But since they don't say, guessing is all you can do.

Yeah, but Duke fans pulling a stunt like crossing their arms for a crowd shot won't mean a thing. To 99.99 percent of the country it will look like the usual choreography the fans have for every game, and they'll go right back to hamming for the cameras and rubbing Vitale's bald head five minutes later. And at the end of the day they would be prouder over the stunt than the message, that's how most 20-year-olds are. Sorry, it just rings hollow to me.
But for disclosure, I admit that every Dukie I've met has been completely full of him/herself. So I'm a titch biased.

They're talking, I believe, about before the game when the camera rolls along in front of the crowd with the red light blaring.
