Waiting on bad news...worse than the news itself

Pure venting thread here, so please feel free to move on if that does not interest you.

I'm waiting on some bad career-related news. I'm 99 percent sure this is going to go badly. Trying very hard to remind myself to take it professionally and move on no matter how bad certain people deserve a kick in the ass over this.

What I'm doing other than venting is asking for suggestions. How should I distract myself? Other than spending too much time on SportsJournalists.com, of course. Is it really worth being a professional when that approach is getting me nowhere with these people? What is it that makes me bang my head against the wall repeatedly like this?

Yeah, it's a weird and vague post. I'm counting on the wonderful people at SportsJournalists.com to do something with this, even if it is to take shots at me. I doubt you could get me further down than I am at this moment.

Watch the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl DVD. Repeat as needed.

    Buena suerte.

Afterward, go for a long walk and breathe in fresh air.

    Good luck whatever happens.

If you're fixing to get fired, pack your shit now and walk out, and save them the satisfaction of humiliating you with the security guard bit. Oh, and don't forget the accrued vacation.

If that photo doesn't cheer you up, I don't know what will.
    And I'm a girl.

I know exactly what you mean, waiting on potential bad news can be more painful than getting the news itself, which can almost feel like a relief enabling you to move on and assess what needs to be done next.

Beyond that, not much advice, work out and try to keep your mind occupied with other stuff.

Of course you'll then look pretty foolish if it turns out to be something else.

Which one? I saw the photo of the bar. The other one I just get a Red X.

Thanks to the responders so far for providing some much-needed smiles. This is exactly what I was hoping for and I love the way SportsJournalists.com comes through.

Particularly nice job by The Good Doctor, recognizing my place as a very loud member of SteelersSportsJournalists.com.

That's the other one, which sometimes shows up, and sometimes doesn't.
