I flipped on the TV to find this on CNN. One person dead, one person in custody now, it seems.

My thoughts are with those affected.

Guy killed a Montgomery Co. deputy last year after escaping custody on campus. Apparently one dead and 7-8 injured here.

Sorry, Cosmo, couldn't remember details. Just that they locked down at least part of campus for that last one.

Hmmm. Wonder if Marcus Vick was visiting friends on campus.

Marcus only had a love of underage girls. He's not a murderer.

My god.  I thought it was one, now they are saying that most of the fatalities were in a classroom.

This reminds me of the Iowa campus shootings in 1991.  It's a sick feeling right now.

MSNBC's analyst says that this is the most deadly shooting incident on a college campus in history.

First shooting 7:15 a.m. at Norris Hall. Second shooting at 9:15 a.m. Ambler Johnson Hall. Two hours apart. WHY wasn't the campus closed after the first incident?

This is horrific. CNN has 22 confirmed dead. I immediately thought of the UNC shootings in 1994.

What is this about?  Is there any motive being given (not that there could be any reasonable motive, of course)?  Insanity.

Sounds like an epic administrative failure as well.

Looks like they lifted the lockdown after the first shooting way too prematurely.

Quote
Aimee Kanode, a freshman from Martinsville, said the shooting happened on the 4th floor of West Ambler Johnston dormitory, one floor above her room. Kanode's resident assistant knocked on her door about 8 a.m. to notify students to stay put.

"They had us under lockdown," Kanode said. "They temporarily lifted the lockdown, the gunman shot again."

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A gunman opened fire in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech on Monday, killing 21 people and wounding another 21 before he was killed, police said.

"Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions," said university president Charles Steger.

The university reported shootings at opposite sides of the 2,600-acre campus, beginning at about 7:15 a.m. at West Ambler Johnston, a co-ed residence hall that houses 895 people, and continuing about two hours later at Norris Hall, an engineering building.

Again, why wasn't this school under lock down after the first shooting. We're talking about two hours here folks. Two hours.
