PK - living large and as usual showing respect for the little people:

d. Coffeenerdness: The best thing about working at NBC? Simple. At 3 in the afternoon Sunday, when we all are yelling at the TV at one of the nine games we're watching, one of the staffers says, "Anyone want anything from Starbucks?'' I shoot up like I was in the bottom of a loaded cannon. "Triple grande hazelnut latte!'' I say. See how simple my life is?

Preach it, Boom.

The little courtesies are fast fading from our everyday life.

And we are poorer for it.

Maybe the unappreciated staffer took a leak in PK's latte on the way back to studio.

In the early stages of NFL on NBC  Pete is acting like he has never been in the end zone before.

His iron worker father has to be just spinning in his grave seeing Pete ordering a staffer to go get him a latte and not saying please and thank you.

I doubt that the staffer is paying $5.25 out of his own pocket to feed PK's habit.

True. But Pete's not paying to feed his own habit either.

Jeebus, Peter.
Do you think he has any idea how truly awful that makes him sound?

Now that he's had gastric bypass surgery, PK's back on the latte chronic.

Its really stunning to me that King tries to pass himself off as a man of the people - yet continues show show us countless examples of him being just the opposit.

Lets get a list going - The I'm Peter King and Your Not Hall of Shame;

- 10 year old boy he takes Tejada foul ball from

- security guard at A's spring training

- US Air gate agent in southbend

- SI staffer at Super Bowl Party - Don't you know who I am

- NBC staffer

He is obviously tone deaf to the way he comes across- even with all the help we have provided here at SJ

When he begins a sentence: "I was driving the other day and my cell phone rang. I answered it. "Hi Peter," said the voice on the other end, "this is John Lynch/Brett Favre/Bill Cowher...." etc.

Count how many times he wrote that "NFL player told *me* last night" in that column.

Does it really matter who the player told it to?

Well, considering it's his column, this isn't that big a deal.

We counted 6 NBC references. You think SI is thrilled? And perhaps we missed it, but how did PK talk to all these players in one day?

Six "...told me"'s in the first four pages.  Add in where Jerome Bettis butted in on his phone call to tell Trotter to hang in there.  Enough already.

There's this new-fangled invention. It's called the telephone. They even have ones that work wirelessly, so you can call anyone anywhere.

So columnists are now calling players after games, and players are taking there calls?

No. They call Peter.

But to answer your actual question....I'm sorry, what IS that question? Do columnists call players? As opposed to what, driving to their houses?

- US Air gate agent in southbend

Was that the same as the 'yogurt pretzel' incident?  The one where he used his column to bitch out Delta Airlines for not holding the plane so Marybeth could get yogurt pretzels?

Boom, add:

- 5 course meal for the players at Ruth's Chris -- thanks SI expense account!

Yes, but this can be excused. It was the highlight of Freddie Mitchell's career. I think he might be working at Ruth's Chris now.
