I have to say, reading about how Swift bypassed the film studios, produced her concert film herself (to great reviews) and went directly to cut a deal with the theaters really impresses me. She's actually probably savvier than she is talented, which is saying something.

It has to be alarming to studios that Beyonce is doing the same thing. Won't be too long before a bankable star will produce their own movie, raise the cash themselves and bypass the studios as well - if only as an experiment. Tom Cruise could do it easily, The Rock as well. The biggest asset the studios bring to the table is marketing and distribution. Generally they serve as "gatekeepers" to movies in the same way newspapers served as gatekeepers to news.

And everyone on the production was an anti-Semite! I assume, anyway.

I've never understood people who try to "blame" Jews for what happened to Jesus. The whole thing was foretold, it was God's will if anyone is the prime mover in the whole thing. Without Jews, there would be no Christianity. I actually think antisemistm grows out of Christianity in an effort to downplay or dismiss the Jewish roots - really the Jewish base and foundation of Christianity. Christianity is to Judiasm what the LDS Church is to Christianity.

Agreed on all counts, but this isn't the thread for it.

Oh I totally agree. Taylor Swift is about the least Jewish person I can think of.

I definitely did not expect this job to go to a 35-year-old man.
