If Americans rejected the Republicans because of Bush, will they also reject Bush's PR firm, FOX News channel?
Already Sean Hannity is whining like Al Franken with hemroids

    Christ, let's hope so.

At the very least they could change the name of that show to Colmes & Hannity.

  3. No, it's still the #1 news chanel, and the public is still more conservative than liberal. They are just mad at the conservatives in office, not the ideology.

The public is not conservative on most issues. What's hurt the center-left is labeling and fear-mongering.

The number one CABAL news channel. People overstate the importance of two things repeatedly: Talk radio and cabal news. Something like four times as many people watch NBC nightly news than was Fox or CNN.

And just so we're clear, MORE people have voted for Democrats than Republicans in something like seven of the last eight elections. But gerrymandering and the electoral college have allowed Republicans to believe the world adores the GOP and their policies. Especially fantasy bloggers, it seems.

I think most American are conserative on a lot of issues. Everytime a proposal banning gay marriage gets on a ballot, states overwhelmingly support it. Three of the "bluer" states in the country -- Washington, California and now Michigan -- have banned affirmative action. And Missouri's stem cell proposal barely passed, and you don't see a lot of states clamoring to go down that road. Plus several of the Dems that got elected Tuesday are pro-life or pro-death penalty.

In answer to the question, no.

The public soon enough will be pissed off at the Democrats.

Because they'll fuck up, just like the Republicans.

It's the circle of life. Republicans fuck up, fall out of power. Democrats fuck up, fall out of power. Rinse and repeat.

  8. No, it really is true that more people consider themselves conservative than liberal, and it has been true for the past 30 years as polls show. In 2000, according to and American Public Opinion poll, 34% of those polled considered themselves conservative, and 21% liberal. In the same poll, more people considered themselves conservative since it's inception in 1976, but more people are moderate than either ideology. Here's a poll that shows similar results: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.laits.utexas.edu/gov310/IPOM/ideology/ideology.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.laits.utexas.edu/gov310/IPOM/ideology/index.html&h=406&w=659&sz=25&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=GsxtpgT2MwNDnM:&tbnh=85&tbnw=138&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522ideological%2Bself-identification%2522%26svnum%3D100%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DN

Fox is more centerist than you think. Libs believe it's ultra-conservative because it doesn't toe the network news or CNN left-leaning line.

During it's prime viewing hours, FOX presents Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. If FOX puts Noam Chomsky on for 6 hours, reading his books while sodomizing 8 year old boys, it still couldn't be less conservative.

The key to solving the riddle of whether FOX is conservative or not is to ask Roger Ailes, which shows constitute news and which constitute opinion.
When FOX does news it's fairly coentrist. What it does the other 22 hours a day is straight Rupert Conservatism with a little Pat Buchanan facism thrown in for spice.

  11. It also has Colmes on to debate Hannity, so during the two shows you discussed, only one can be accused of leaning right.

Debate... if that's what you want to call it. My 12-year-old does a better job making Hannity look like the Neanderthal buffoon he is than Alan Colmes, who is an utter joke.

Hondo, Fox leans waaaaay more to the right than CNN leans to the left. You don't see loaded questions like "If the Democrats win this election, are we going to be less safe" popping up on the screen on CNN.
