The New Britain Herald and Bristol Press' award-winning sports department has an immediate opening for a full-time sports reporter. The right candidate will have experience writing game stories and features, have a great knowledge of digital journalism and social media and at least a basic knowledge of designing pages using InDesign.

The sports reporter will have the opportunity to cover high school sports, Division I Central Connecticut State University, two collegiate summer baseball teams, the New Britain Bees and Bristol Blues, the Nutmeg State Games, the Eastern Regional Little League Baseball and Softball tournaments and the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship.

The Herald is located in central Connecticut and is the mid-way point between New York City and Boston.

Email your resume, writing and layout samples to Senior Managing Editor Brad Carroll at bcarroll@newbritainherald.com. Please put "Sports reporter job" in the subject line.

Central Connecticut Commuincations is a equal oppportunoty employer, and does not discrimnate on the basis of color, ethnicity, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or religion. We encourage applications from members of mnority groups, and especially those that are bilingual (Polish or Spanish).

That's common in the South too, where "Guntersville" becomes "Gunnersville." Pronouncing the "T" marks you as not from those parts.

Hamtramck wishes to contribute a dozen Paczkis. (Actually, my hometown of Warren has a larger population of Poles by percentage.)
