Did I read somewhere that the Nats/Braves game will have a DH? How screwed up is that?

Could you imagine if this was the NFL making considerations for the Ravens, instead of MLB making considerations for the Nats?????

So deGrom retires his final seven batters, strikes out nine in 6 innings, doesn’t allow a run, gets pulled after 77 pitches and the Mets promptly implode and lose to the Phillies.

In deGrom’s last 77 starts, he has 25 wins with like a 1.50 ERA, and in the non-wins, it’s 2.50 or so. He’s left with a lead in something like 33 of those games. I’m citing the stats from memory, but it’s something ridiculous like that. Unbelievable.

Watching today's game and Gibby's yelling in the booth for Tigers guys to get hits

His overall ERA in that period is 2.07 and the Mets won-loss record is 36-41. He must have enormous mental strength to be able to drive to Citi Field on days he pitches there rather than pointing the car west towards freedom.

That sounds about right. Fired-Up Gibby kind of checks his brain at the door sometimes. For example, when the infamous Jim Parque-Dean Palmer et al fight broke out at Comiskey Park, Gibson loudly yells, "Get it outta yer system, boys!" In fact, during that era before he started coaching/managing, they paired him with the somewhat dweeby (particularly at that time) Josh Lewin, resulting in a relationship that I always imagined involved more than a little bullying.

The guy with more homers since 2013 -- Nelson Cruz, soon to be 41 -- just hit another.

    Twinks 2, Tigers 3.

Since 2013, Cruz has 290 homers.

    275 of them against Detroit.

Though seriously, even though his slash is ONLY .300/.375/.542 vs. Detroit with 25 HRs and 75 RBIs, it seems like he hits five-run homers every time he sees the Tigers, mostly because of 2011 ALCS PTSD.

Gibson stops taking it one game at a time, Twins immediately tie the game.

Starting the eighth, Gibson said Tigers need to hold on, win tomorrow, and then an off day Thursday. Next batter, Buxton, homers to tie it.
