    I read where he batted cross-handed at first, so that card's accurate.

    He didn't wear #44 until his second year with the Braves, and he had played two full seasons of minor league ball before that. I rather doubt they would have had him in the system for four years before they straightened up the batting-crosshanded situation.

    I wore 44 my junior year on the soccer team. Scored a goal that year.

    I just read something about that; he stopped cross-handed hitting upon the recommendation of the Braves' scout who signed him when he was on the Clowns. He hit "normally" at Eau Claire.

    It says something in 1975/76 that Ahmad of the Bad News Bears wore 44. That was Hank Aaron.
