First year. Other than the Rose Bowl, hasn't been a p=bowl game in SoCal since the old Freedom Bowl at Anaheim Stadium. This has a chance to be a decent game in a great venue and with the Pac-12 tie-in, LA is an easy drive from half the Pac-12 and an inexpensive plane flight from all 10 out-of-town members. With the MWC tie-in, if SJSU, SDSU, Fresno or UNLV makes it, chance for a big crowd when it finally happens.

I believe Life College was involved in the game that produced the greatest lead in AP history when the undersized club fell in a tournament:
    "Life was too short."

The situation with Keyonte Johnson could have huge ripples. Not saying the colleges were aware of lingering health risks from those who've had COVID=19, but clearly they couldn't be certain there were none.

If another player goes down, then it’s serious.

Right now, one could be anything.

Hotel industry lost 42 billion dollars in revenue this year. People making low wages and low salaries getting hurt bad. Hotel ownership is often a franchise business with low margins, they are getting killed. The restaurant industry is getting destroyed and most the workers are low wage workers.

the pandemic has crushed so many businesses and Trump and McConnell and the people who can help just don’t give a shit. I pray they die soon and horribly and painfully. And that people they care about suffer endlessly and needlessly.

Interesting ideas about the long-term effects of Covid on sports.

In somewhat related news, Rudy Gobert signed a 5-year, $150 million contract extension last week, nine months after his COVID-19 diagnosis basically served as the tip off to the pandemic in the U.S.

That one slipped under the radar, didn't it?

I covered a high school hockey game off the local access channel's stream today. Neither spectators nor media is allowed in the rinks in that league now.

They played two 22:30 halves instead of the normal three 15-minute periods.

The quality of the stream was better than DAZN's. The camera work, graphics and announcing not so much The graphic with the score and time disappeared midway through the first half. The announcer didn't seem familiar with basic hockey terminology. He kept referring to the ice as "the field" and goals as "points." Apparently he didn't have rosters because he only referred to the players by number.

For the first few minutes of the second half, the camera stayed fixed on the neutral zone and didn't follow the play.
