Volleyball supposed to start in a month. Same with football practice.

As I told my brother the athletic director out there: "Um, no." He agrees.

    Bursting Bubble:
Baseball free agency. Teams generally get screwed by believing Scott Boras’ stats and forecasts during good times. That’s his job. No problem with Boras. With non TV- revenue almost non existent last season, And forecast of near zero non TV revenue this year, what’s the market? Club valuation has to be down significantly. Owners don't realize paper appreciation and they cant borrow against phantom equity.

NBA contracts. Same as baseball. No revenue but for TVrevenue. Anyone see the NBA Finals and World Series ratings? People are locked in their homes with nothing to do and they still did not watch accordingly.

Iowa finished its fall season on Friday night with its football state championship games. Attendance for the title games was limited to just two tickets per player.

So far, a summer baseball/softball season and a full fall schedule have been completed.

Minnesota had to re-abort its resurrected football and volleyball seasons due to a four-week 'dial-back' starting today. Football teams weren't going to get full state championships anyway but were a week short of section finals (round of 16 overall), some of which were played on three days rest just to get them in. Volleyball was stopped with a week left in the regular season.

In Michigan, the football and volleyball playoffs are in suspended animation with hopes of completing them around Christmas.

High school playoffs in full swing in Alabama. 10 games last night.

A friend in East Texas messages me his school's results. Apparently, Mt. Vernon won a playoff game last night and is No.1 in its division. That's the school where the notorious Art Briles is the coach.

Mississippi's private school league plays its last football championship game today. One of the champions is from Louisiana (the association has members in Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee, as well as Mississippi) and only played two true home games this season because of that state's COVID restrictions, but they managed to play 11 games total. They moved a bunch of games in August and September to other states to skirt Louisiana's COVID rules.

The Mississippi public schools are through Round 2 of 4 in the playoffs. There was a wave of COVID forfeits last week (nine games across all six classifications), but they made it through without any this week.

Must have gotten his ringers eligible this year, compared to previous seasons.

I read that story last year. Apparently, the second of the transferring brothers from Colorado is an OK kid. All legal. He was named Homecoming King. Everybody likes him.
