    Bad week for three-name troubadours.

Shot a man in the face in Lorena, Texas, and beat the rap.

Waylon cut a whole album of Shaver songs, Honky Tonk Heroes.

Almost died when he had a heart attack on stage at Gruene Hall.

Lost his son Eddie, a well known guitarist, to an overdose. Todd Snider sang about it in Waco Moon.

    A full life.

Nah, he's the country version of Keith Richards.

"His personal life was full of high drama: He married the same woman three times, survived a heart attack onstage, broke his neck on his wedding night, and was acquitted of a shooting incident in 2007, in which he reportedly asked the victim, “Where do you want it?” However, Shaver was also a man of deep faith, and wrote and recorded many gospel songs."

There's got to be one helluva story there.

    Rest well, Outlaw.

He wrote an autobiography with the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Brad Reagan. It's not available on Amazon, eBay or BetterWorldBooks. You can buy a print-on-demand version through the University of Texas Press.
