The anti-Harris stories coming out and the fact that more people are getting vocal about suggesting Biden should pick someone else would seem to indicate that Harris is officially the leader in the clubhouse. Those kinds of comments and stories don't usually come about until 1) There is a clear leader, and 2) a decision appears to be coming.

That said, no matter who Biden picks, they're all competent. They have some warts. They'll potentially have to deal with some controversies, explain past comments or positions, etc.

But they're all accomplished individuals with clear credentials.

Warren is a policy wonk with progressive ideals who has a history of pushing for economic policies that benefit working class and middle class people, exactly what would be needed in the wake of a pandemic. Economic and social recovery are critical for the next four years.

Harris is a younger senator who could be considered among the next wave of the Democratic party, along with a few other candidates on this list (followed by AOC's generation). She would be a driving force behind police reform and equality, two issues that have been flashpoints even amidst the pandemic and ones that will absolutely demand attention of any Democratic president. She's also been a strong proponent of tax reform.

Duckworth, like Harris, is the next wave of Democratic leaders. She brings serious foreign policy chops, which could be pivotal to repairing the nation's reputation abroad.

Rice has never run for public office, but she has even more foreign policy chops than Duckworth. Her background with the UN and as the National Security Advisor would make her a prominent voice in dealing with the surge of digital election interference, which likely won't go away even if Trump does.

Bass is older, but her reputation in the House is sterling. With so much legislation coming down the pike to get the country back on track, Biden will need a point person to escort bills through Congress. Her legislative credentials are deeper than anyone else under consideration.

Demings, despite her age, has less of the D.C. stink on her. She's been in Congress even less than Warren, which gives her some clout as a bit of an outsider. She'd be a strong voice on police reform.

There are other candidates, some who have been vetted a fair amount, but I think those are the final six. I think it will be Harris.

At the DNC, I want the lights to go down, then a series of flashing LEDs, they fire up Enter Sandman, and Obama comes trotting onto the stage.

Three practice swings, then an actual swing, then he puts another ball on a tee. He probably takes two mulligans on every hole, since we know he cheats at golf.

Hey, Kevin, how's your district doing with Covid? What's your plan to help them and get them to take this seriously?
