That is one of the biggest differences between MLB's restart and what we're seeing in the NHL and NBA, aside from the bubble. Labor relations in the latter two sports are much less strained than in baseball.

Now it's going through the Cardinals. I believe that is six of them who have tested positive now. Clearly, MLB's approach didn't work. Sure, the Marlins were a big part of that, but it isn't all them. I'm not sure any sport can work without putting the teams in a bubble. The NFL is likely going to be even worse due to the nature of the sport.

With the economy in the tank and million upon millions of people newly unemployed the owners are going to get crushed. With the economy in the tank and millions and millions unemployed, new car sales are down, air lines are getting killed, hotels and vacation spots. The only advertisers left are going to be beer and fast food. They’ll be able to dictate the cost of commercials. People will start downsizing their cable and dish packages. TV ratings may be up, but no one has disposable income to spend on going to games or buy the products advertised. then no one is going to give a shit about guys making millions or owners.

Scrambling to solve an entirely predictable situation.

They seem inept with the bats -- no situational hitting, few clutch hits, lots and lots of LOB. Yet, they are still scoring. Pitching, though, is horrible. They're giving up 8-9-10 runs a game. Scoring 6-7 ain't enough.

The situation may be predictable but the solution is impossible. It’s as much a political solution as medical. And when 30% of the country is in open revolt against any remedial measure against the pandemic and there is not only no national Structure to combat this but a national structure opposed to combating this, its sheer hubris and arrogance to criticize a sport for failure. They had no chance.

the NBA is banking, literally, on taking a short term big loss this year to earn goodwill for the future. It’s cute they think there is a future that includes professional sports at anywhere close to 25% of what it’s been. The cost of the NBA’s bubble and salaries is exponentially greater than any revenue they hope to recoup this year.

If the rest of the season is cancelled do stat's from these few games count?

Marlins 2B Isan Diaz opted out, too.

Let the players go home. Managers can set up a card table at second base and finish the season playing Strat-O-Matic.

I'm pretty sure most players are living apart from families this year. The exceptions may be the Marlins, Rays, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Angels and Padres. Many of their players live in those areas year-round because of the weather. Those are notable exceptions, of course.
