    I think alternative #2 would have satisfied that segment of the readership.

    Memoir is always a terrible area for fact checking, worse still when it's used as the jumping off point for a reported essay.

    Just too fraught.

    They’d piss off their own writers too much, more likely.

    The leadership of every news organization is on notice at this point.
