    I think that's the law. Members of Congress are recognized with the flag at half-staff for the day on which they die, which was Friday in this case, and the day thereafter.

    I owe so much of my life to Rep. Lewis and those who sacrificed in the 60’s; because of his fight for civil rights I am able to:

    Legally marry my wife;
    be legally protected against racial discrimination;
    Be free of “separate but equal” nonsense;
    Be free from actual and de facto segregation; and
    Be free to legally own my property.

    Many people still don’t understand what life would be like without the civil rights movement for so many of us citizens.

    The greatest tribute to Lewis would be a 50-state Voting Rights Act establishing baseline standards for registering, voting and tallying of votes.
