She's largely forgotten now, which is unfortunate.

    Huge talent and walked away.

Wasn't it Robbie Benson playing Billie Joe McCallister in the TV movie?

Not a great movie but tried to answer the question posed in the song: why did Billy Joe jump off the bridge?
Spoiler alert: he had a gay encounter and couldn't live with himself, so he leaped into the sweet bye and bye. Which is a bit on the homophobic side.

She had a minor hit in Fancy, which was a hit for Reba McEntire

Much prefer Harper Valley PTA, and I detest Reba McEntire.

The original Tallahatchie Bridge was burned down by vandals in 1972. It has since been rebuilt.

The Tallahatchie River is also where Emmett Till’s body was thrown. Probably within a few miles of the same bridge.

Married Bill Harrah (as in Harrah Casinos). Divorced. Two more marriages, the last to Jim Stafford. She's got enough money to do anything she wants, and she walked away from all the public exposure. Good for her.
