Totally fair point -- I think they'd add him for sheer entertainment and the passing-of-the-torch quality, but you could make a solid case for someone like Paul George or Blake Griffin instead.

Hadn't thought about Tatum. He's definitely in the discussion.

I'd rather have Russ or PG than Aldridge.

Here is the 44-player pool you can pick 12 from for the team:

    Bam Adebayo
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Harrison Barnes
    Bradley Beal
    Devin Booker
    Malcolm Brogdon
    Jaylen Brown
    Jimmy Butler
    Mike Conley
    Stephen Curry
    Anthony Davis
    DeMar DeRozan
    Andre Drummond
    Kevin Durant
    Paul George
    Draymond Green
    James Harden
    Montrezl Harrell
    Joe Harris
    Tobias Harris
    Gordon Hayward
    Dwight Howard
    Brandon Ingram
    Kyrie Irving
    LeBron James
    Kyle Kuzma
    Kawhi Leonard
    Damian Lillard
    Brook Lopez
    Kevin Love
    Kyle Lowry
    JaVale McGee
    Khris Middleton
    Donovan Mitchell
    Victor Oladipo
    Chris Paul
    Mason Plumlee
    Marcus Smart
    Jayson Tatum
    Klay Thompson
    Myles Turner
    Kemba Walker
    Russell Westbrook
    Derrick White

Outside of about 10 guys, you could probably combo together the remaining 30 and have a really deep roster

Aldridge is probably the weakest name I threw on there. I just did it for size -- it's a really small roster.

And this is how I learned that Karl Anthony Towns is part of the Dominican National Team system.

The American center is virtually extinct.

Zach LaVine can't even make the top 44?

Tatum and PG for KAT and Aldridge.

I mean, I know LaVine's putting up stats on a shit team, but surely he's better than JaVale Fucking McGee.

Don't have a problem with that talent-wise -- particularly since KAT isn't eligible -- but at that point you only have one big man on the roster.

Same argument here -- LaVine is more talented, but McGee is one of the better options in a position that is a glaring weakness for this team. (I'm admittedly a JaVale McGee fanboy.)

How important is a center anymore? Especially in the international game?

And you definitely don't need a player who does traditional center things (and only those) in international ball. Someone like Jokic? Sure. He has so many other skills. But otherwise? Nah.

You need to have at least someone who can guard a big man. Davis does that, but you probably need one more in case he gets hurt or is in foul trouble
