"Facts" or "Truth"?

What, again, is journalism's purpose? As Indiana Jones said, "Archaeology is the search for fact...not truth. If it's truth you're interested in, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall."

So I disagree with this pixel jockey:

If you want the facts, buy a newspaper.

If you want the truth, read a novel.

You disagree with this "pixel jockey" because of fucking semantics?

You know damn well he was getting at, and there's plenty of definitions of truth that pertain to factual accuracy without delving into philosophical or religious issues.

And if you want to get into a semantics debate, my favorite religion professor always said there's truth and there's Truth.

Hard to find an appropriate newspaper thread to ask a question but this thread suffices ...

Should an "independent" newspaper apply for, and receive, a town loan from one of its coverage towns?
