I'll give some of it away. As to the rest, I'm undecided. Seems kind of callous to get a bigger TV in times like these.

Congrats on allowing your child to get out of college debt-free. That's a remarkable achievement these days. No matter where you live or where the student goes to college.

    Perfect time to do it.
You've got a salesman and a sales manager that have to make their nut.
Your finance guy is gonna be your worst headache.
He's not gonna make much on the note if you get the 0% interest.
He's gonna push the extended warranty, gap coverage, all the stuff.
My advice......don't put a down payment. You're using the banks money. Whatever account you're taking that money from is paying you more than 0.

"Would you like our extended warranty, just in case?"

"Do you not trust the product you are selling me?"

"Credit life insurance" and "credit disability insurance' are the finance guy's best tricks. They'll include them without asking and then try to make you feel foolish if you don't "protect" yourself (to the tune of an extra $75 or so per month).

I noticed them in my contract after arriving home with my new car in 1988. Called the bank immediately and was told, "That's pure profit for the finance guy. But you have three days to have him rewrite the contract and exclude them."

He was not a happy finance guy.
