It will arrive right around my first week of either unemployment or severely diminished employment. My wife also has lost her job. So it’ll directly replace our income initially. No hookers and blow here.

    Stress? Who's got stress?

Good luck to the suddenly income impaired. As if things weren't bad enough.

I'm lucky enough to have no debt and a secure job, so I'm leaning toward donating most of it to local businesses and organizations that can really use it.

We have an awesome tree service in our town, one so good the state calls it in for the big storms anywhere before the storm even ends. We live in a wooded area and have to use 'em every so. They have a great deal where for three grand, you get a crew for a day. Use that day right, it's 5 years before you need them again.

I have two big ones that need to go. I might get an estimate after the check comes in. I bet those who are working would be willing to cut a deal to get a job.

Single best thing I did with my life in the last 10 years was to pay off every dime of debt and make sure Baby MMSW could get through college without any.

Unemployment is a lot less scary when all you really need to do is pay for rent, utilities, food and insurance.
