The Oregon Legislature just last month pushed through extra funding for the World Track championships scheduled for Eugene next year. Oops.

These are the Nike Championships. Uncle Phil has more than enough money to pay for his private little track meet, rather than soaking the state taxpayers so Hayward Field can become another palace that sits empty more than 300 days of the year.

The reason it is not cancelled yet is because they have to figure out the financial responsibilities

It has been my observation that often, when the question is "Why do they..." or "Why don't they...", the answer is "money".

Dan Shulman said this in an interview once: A wise man told him that 99% of the important questions that have ever been asked can be answered with one word. Money.

Just make it the 2021 games and then 2024 games.

The only reason why they are four years apart is when they started these back up in the modern era, it was a bitch to move around the world. Now, not so much.

Now the answer to the question is "nobody." Games delayed a year.

Interesting trivia: The Summer Games have been "abandoned" three times, twice because of war.

    1916: Berlin
    1940: Tokyo
    1944: London
