Two totally different bands. VH with Roth was all wrapped up in Dave’s bits. VH with Hagar was much more serious about the music.

Hagar didn't come within a thousand miles.

Yup. Roth had personality, but was wrapped up in himself entirely too much. Hagar was much more professional and much more about the band.

This one isn't a slam dunk, though. Roth era had "Jump," "Panama" and "Me Wise Magic." Hagar had "Right Now" and "Dreams."

It's amazing to me that anyone thinks Roth vs Hagar is actually debatable.

If I were to pick the 20 best Van Halen songs, 18 or 19 would be Roth era.

Now this is a great comp. I’ve seen Elton in concert four times, including a New Years Eve concert at Barclays a few years ago, when I was in line to get beers and was almost to the front when he opened with Funeral for a Friend and I had to abandon my spot in line bc I didn’t wanna miss the song. Granted, it’s a long ass song, but still.

The Stranger is one of my favorite albums ever, and Always a Woman still reminds me of the first girl to break my heart.

They really are equally talented, but I’m kind of over Billy Joel, whereas I still love Elton John. So for it, it’s Reggie Dwight.
