Not listening right now - but: I have a Spotify playlist called Odds and Ends. I throw all kind of stuff there, about 400 songs total. Yesterday during my walk, "As" my Steve Wonder came up for the first time in ages.

What a great damn song. That was a great album and that particular tune stands out.

Drove the goddie to school today in the snow, 10 miles away, and this came on '80s on 8.

It has aged well and it's beautifully arranged. I remember being enamored with the movie too.

Joe Ely. Texas singer-songwriter. A little shot of rockabilly, off of "Musta Notta Gotta Lotta" back in 1980 or so.

"So give me a shot of that octane juice,
there ain't no cure for the honky tonk blues
and if they come up with something
I'll have built up an immunity."

This song entered my head and I couldn't remember who sang it, always thought it might be Stevie Wonder or one of the Motown girl groups. Never heard of Spiral Staircase - classic one-hit wonder band. Love the dance moves by the bass player. I thought bass players didn't dance?

Admittedly, Huey is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it ain't cool to like Huey Lewis and the News. But their - very likely - last album is a joy, and the new tune "Her Love is Killing Me" is a bluesy blast:

Just hate, hate, hate the news of Huey's hearing loss that is essentially ending his and the band's careers.
