It will be interesting to see how this affects Springer's upcoming arb hearing.

    Astros: you cheated.
    Springer: you told me to
    Arbitrator: no soup for you

It is totally in the Astros' interest to keep their players on board here. What if they know, even if only by hearsay, Crane knew all about the scheme and thought it was great? What if one of them just decided to say that? I'd be settling any arbitration cases tout de suite.

$17.5M is hardly Soup Nazi territory.

Olberman said that the Astros realized $60 million additional profit based on the 2017 WS. Paying out only a $5 mil penalty is an easy cost benefit decision. That Beltran who cheated becomes a manager but Hinch who merely managed cheaters shows that Manfred and baseball are only interested in PR and not integrity.

I’ve changed my mind about vacating the title. Take it away. Don’t let them fly the Pennant or display the trophy. Strike their name from the record book. Let the players show off their rings as ill gotten trophies. Frauds, like Charlie Hustle.

    So what about players?

My bet is a few specific guys will get 80-game suspensions.

    Astros allowed to hire Cora?

Cora wasn’t with the Sox in 2017, he was with Houston.

And the Red Sox did cheat in 2017. The manager was dumb enough to get caught.

Nada. Zilch. Zero. And they will exhibit no shame or remorse and will take stern offense at the suggestion that they did anything wrong.
