I've always liked him, straight cuckoo that he is.

I didn’t have much opinion about him until this. Now I like him.

I think he's hilarious and I hope this isn't in fact his last time hosting. He's the perfect panacea for that petri dish of self-importance.

Big fan of the original Office.

Gervais plays the misanthrope, half jokingly, half seriously. He is not a fan of religion or,
I think, the kind of self-religion practiced by Hollywood celebrities.

Michelle Williams’ speech on women’s rights (really, just abortion rights) struck me as unfortunate. It wasn’t the theme of the night (bush fires and climate change), it wasn’t overly related to her role and it was delivered in a solemn way that belied the occasion. (Regardless of whether or not I agree with her, the “our very lives are at stake” tone seemed melodramatic.)

Always liked him. Super acerbic wit. Has a way of delivering his material in a did-he-really-mean-that way. Which he does. But not really.

Didn't like the original Office, probably a cultural thing. Enjoyed many other of his works, especially After Life on Netflix.

Though I didn't watch his routine, I read most of what he said and found most of it hilarious.

    That’s a stretch.

It’s what he does. The Golden Globes tolerates it because of their looser, mostly drunk vibe. He gets pretty close to a being really offensive but he doesn’t ever cross that line (although the joke about the Al-Qaeda streaming service probably was his wittiest).

Some people who worked with me at the Asbury park press will get a kick out of this one.
