    This was the year the Cowboys had to strike while the iron was hot with a bunch of cheap players still on rookie deals. They had their hand forced to pay Zeke Elliott with his holdout.

    Now they have to pay Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Randall Cobb and Byron Jones. They'll pay one and franchise one. But Byron Jones and any number of 25 (!!!) unrestricted free agents could go bye-bye. The only saving grace is they have the OL locked up.

    A mini- threadjack here, but Veeck's ownership structures were always so highly leveraged that if he had ever died while owning a team, he wouldn't have been able to leave it to any of his children.
    It was also a factor that his first wife whom he divorced in 1948, had literally no interest in sports and passed that preference down to that set of kids.
    Veeck's main perspective on sports franchises and inheritance I believe came from the fact that of the four times he bought MLB franchises, he was mainly able to get three of them due to inheritance disputes among the previous owners -- particularly both times he bought the White Sox.

    Although, the example is probably still valid, because both times Veeck SOLD the White Sox, he did so at least in part because of declining health, and he wanted to be rid of the team before getting into an inheritance situation.

    The NFL's version of F one, marry one, kill one:

    Pay one, franchise one, cut one.

    Good to see the Browns doing their level best to remain among the worst-run franchises.

    2019 All-Pro team released. IMHO this means so much more than "Pro Bowler". Also, I have great memories of scoring the football cards of the players with the special All-Pro identifier. (Csonka was one of favs in the 70's since Niners were going through the OJ/Plunkett years)

    Let's see;

    1. The post Marvin Lewis Bengals.
    2. The Redskins. I think we are going to have to see substantial and sustained progress in the Ron Rivera era to come off this list.

    Do you think the Jets are more dysfunctional than the Giants as long as Gettleman is there?

    Yeah, none of those teams can approach the Browns’ suckitude over the last 20 years.
