LOL that's the kind of crowd you might get for a Long Beach State game at Veterans Stadium ... on a gorgeous Saturday night.

It's college. Cut the band's halftime show and all hell is gonna break loose.

I'm sure the place was empty before the extended rain and lightning delay, but that picture has been used to trash UAB's attendance too many time to let it just pass. The side the picture is shot from has the press box, the luxury boxes, and the top 20% or so of seat rows have a roof keeping the rain off. Lesion Field is also old as hell, and all the camera mounts are on this side looking that way. That side is where the visitors sit, so it is always empty as hell in a 70k seat stadium. Then we hear about how no one goes to the games.

You can bet that a significant percentage of fans who should be over there are on this side sitting under cover.

It's also just a shitty day for football. Legion Field seems to agree.

PS: You like the video board? It's the cast-off from when Bryant-Denny last got a new one. It replaces the previous Bryant-Denny cast-off, which was mounted over the opposite end zone - while the speakers were where they still are, on the other end. The sound would start, you'd look toward the end with the speakers, then do a double-take to the other end so you could see the video.

'Bama knows how to run a successful program, but they never lifted a finger to make it happen at the other schools in the UA system.

Indeed it does. Vets Stadium is a glorified high school stadium with about 11K seats on one side.

At Long Beach, they would have asked all the fans to sit on the side of the field seen on TV.

The Jackrabbits draw better than Long Beach State ever did.

Tennessee’s center just got called for a snap infraction on fourth and inches as they were trying to run the clock out. Had to punt back to IU and give them a last chance to win.

Preceded by a sequence of college football in a nutshell:

Player stretches toward first-down marker. Terrible official gives him a ridiculously generous spot. Stop game to measure. After first down awarded, official review of the spot.

    But meanwhile . . .
FBS teams were 0-471 this season when trailing by 13 or more points in the final 5 minutes.

    They are now 1-471.

Can you feel the tension and excitement for the championship game?

no, really. Can you feel it, cause I can’t? There’s more buzz about Cats, The Movie.
