Did a reporter seriously actually ask the AD about the candidacy of Art Briles? Or did the AD want some Twitter likes? Or did the reporter want some Twitter likes?

Bobby Wilder resigns at Old Dominion following a 1-11 season. He built the program from scratch starting in 2009 and had some success in FCS. School then decided to go FBS and never really got a foothold, despite upsetting Virginia Tech last year. This year ODU won its opener against cross-town rival Norfolk State, then lost the rest. What's worse is the school spent $67.5 million redoing its ancient football stadium, but at the end, stands were half-empty.

He said after the last game that he would tell adminstrators that if things didn't improve next year, he would resign. I suspect he figured he would be on his way out this year. ODU went to a bowl four years ago, but the last three seasons produced losing records, each worse than the last.

And since ODU joined C-USA, the school has had one winning season (10-3), one break-even and four losing season.

Bobby Wilder's a good dude. Always enjoyed dealing with him. There was an assumption that because the 757 is so talent rich, ODU would be a consistent force right away. But once the first wave of talent goes to UVa or Tech or one of the North Carolina ACC schools, you're not left with a ton. CUSA is a really weird fit with no regional rivals. Marshall and Charlotte are the closest to fitting that bill. They're a little bit in no-man's land. Not sure that's an easy fix job.

Those two guys suck on television. Pronunciation/factual mistakes galore. Them filling weather delays during Iowa/Iowa State was both hilarious and infuriating. Oh, and whoever the host was couldn't pronounce Ferentz's name right. First time, I thought the dude simply misspoke. Nope.

Fox should just have someone there to feed Urban questions and that’s it. There have been times when Meyer is visibly frustrated on set because he wants to say something relevant but can’t because of the Douche off taking place between whatever former players.

That's really the second wave of talent that's going to UVA/VT/Chapel Hill these days. Any real top-end talent is getting hit up by Bama or Penn State.

ODU never should have left FCS. They could have built a great rivalry with JMU and competed for national championships. The sad thing is, given the lousy CUSA money and insane travel, I don't even know that they're making money on the deal.

C-USA is so screwed up geographically. From ODU to UTEP to Florida Atlantic in Miami, the distances are insane. That's doubly true when you talk about the Olympic sports. ODU was a UAB basketball rival going back to the Metro and Great Midwest conference days, but that rivalry has little relevance today. I expect that eventually, probably at the next big round of conference reorganization, C-USA and the Sun Belt will merge and split into East and West Divisions, or perhaps split into two new leagues that make more sense geographically.
