That scene is great, but this one is better.

Let's go from an attempt at destroying part of our childhood to something that honors the original, at least in my opinion.

I look at Henry Thomas and it really sinks home how long it's been.

    PaperDoll-
I believe forming new traditions/rituals is an important coping mechanism, thereby re-bonding the family unit post-crisis.
When I was cleaning dog poop out of the yard early this morning (where I seem to do much of my deeper thinking these days), I realized, for example, that I am very grateful I got to eat my grandmother's cooking for so long on this day.

My paternal grandmother made all of Thanksgiving dinner every year until I was about 30, when she got too sick to do it. The oyster stuffing I make each year (and which my daughter has introduced to the French) is a small but real tribute to her.

I wasn’t around any idiot Trumpers today either. That’s always good.

Cracker Barrel was overrun. We wound up saying screw it and wound up at IHOP. No lines, no craziness, no political discussions. An older black couple greeted us with a cheery "Happy Thanksgiving", and a couple with a cute baby girl sat behind us.

It was really nice, in a strange, non-traditional Thanksgiving kinda way.
