Outside of OTL, when do they do this? Look how long it took them to acknowledge Roethlisbergr's off-the-field woes.

Exactly. It's low-hanging fruit and we all know the reasons why ESPN isn't covering this the way the WaPo or NYT would. Yet Twitter bleeding heart Dan Wolken and his ilk pile on regardless.

Which makes SVP's piece stand out. But SVP can get away with that. Otherwise, the S in ESPN stands for slurpage.

So good to see this explode like a clusterbomb in Silver's face.

$1.12 trillion. What doesn't get nearly the (negative) attention is how close Japan is, however ($1.04 trillion).

Such is the difference in being deemed a "friendly" nation vs. a "hostile" one.

See how long that lasts. Fatboy was supposedly pissed at Abe for not getting him the Nobel Prize. And the Japs didn't help us at Normandy!

Not sure the China - Japan comparison is super apt.

How many political and religious prisoners does Japan have locked up?

How many protests is Japan suppressing right now with violence?

Besides, we already went through our moment of cultural panic with Japan and debt and money 30 years ago, when they were buying up real estate like Rockefeller Center.

And we were making movies like 'Rising Sun,' and 'Black Rain.'

    Oof.

Good flyover here from Mr. Hruby.

How the NBA's rift with China laid bare the cost of free speech

“I think it will get better,” Zola said. “There is too much money at stake. To some extent, you’re seeing that in the games that are being played in China. Silver called their bluff. They threatened to cancel the games. There were restrictions and concerns. But the stadiums are sold out and the players are playing. Ultimately, big business will solve hurt feelings.”
