On this date in 1968, the Tigers completed a comeback from a 3-1 deficit to win the 1968 World Series, the last pitting the two pennant winners Playoffs began in 1969
Tonight, we’re just finishing up the first round

Another question - I've heard some comments today that Roberts didn't "follow the analytics" and instead followed his gut with his move. I've also heard repeatedly that while analytics are crucial to success over a season, the smaller sample size and dynamics of one series, one game, one inning, make use of them moot.

Roberts better not have a prolonged losing streak. They should win that division by 10 games again.

Thank you. Some of us are super-sensitive about plane crashes. Nothing to joke about. Ever I get where you were trying to come from, but .... yeah.

In either case - Analytics isn't a be-all, end-all, especially in baseball, which comes down to a series of one-on-one confrontations between pitcher and hitter. For example, even if a lefty masher only hits .100 against a lefty specialist, well, that means he's still going to get a hit 10 percent of the time. Those aren't great odds, but it's not "winning the lottery" odds either. Baseball is such a crapshoot, the best - or even second best - team doesn't win the World Series every time.

Postseason baseball is damn near a different sport than the regular season version. Stands to reason its data, and hence its analytics, would be very different from the data compiled in the 162.

Actually analytics is best used in baseball because of the one on one aspect of the game. It’s about giving yourself the best odds, those odds are never 100%.

    That is shocking to me.
Let's take a gander at this.

2016- Roberts first year--Opening Day Payroll was 236 million. Results? Lost to Cubs in NLCS.
2017- Opening Day Payroll- 227.8 million. Results? Lost to Astros in World Series. (4-3)
2018- Opening Day Payroll- 177.4 million. Results? Shithoused (4-1) in World Series to Red Sox.
2019- Opening Day Payroll- 206 million. Results? Didn't even get out of DS.

Heard Dusty Baker’s name connected to the Phillies. I guess they don’t want to win a World Series. He an older Dave Roberts, wins in regular season, crap in postseason

The Phillies haven't made the postseason since 2011. Their priority has to be the regular season.

Dusty and Bryce, back together again? I don't think so.
