He's extremely talented at trading all of your best prospects for "win now" players. Worked at Miami. Worked at Boston. But it only halfway worked in Detroit because he went the "stars and scrubs" route, and couldn't find a competent closer.

That's a bummer. Not a Brewers fan but really like watching Yelich play.

The A's lose 15-0 last night, win 21-7 tonight. Weird.

If they ever do do a Bull Durham II - having Costner as an interim manager of a bottom-tier team and the entire story taking place in September when the team is 37 games out of first place would be a great setting for a story. Non-pennant race September baseball is weird.

Not since 1884, which amazes me. I figured in 1981 or 1994, the strike-shortened years, there might be a couple.

I don't think so. That franchise has gone through some serious lows since their last World Series victory in 1979. It's mildly embarrassing, but I doubt many Pirates fans care about the fight.

In embarrassing moments, the Yankees take a 6-0 lead over the 100-loss Tigers, 51 games behind them in the overall standings, in the second inning, then lose it 12-11.
