    Sure.

    And it took a long time to get the permissions to install the detectors.

    Which is as it should be in a wilderness area.

    This is one of those cases in which both sides are right.

    But this piece travels a long way to arrive at "This month, his team will begin to install monitoring stations at Mount Hood."

    Environmentalists would be perfectly fine with a mass extinction of the human race. Vulcanologists know it's only a matter of time.

    Seeing as how its neighbor to the north went kablooie in 1980 — and started puffing again in 2004-05 — that seems like a good idea.

    Love me some Mount Hood.
