Calling Die Hard a heist movie is like calling The Eagles a Southern Rock band.

    It's a pretty elastic category.

'Dog Day Afternoon' is a heist movie, too.

'The Town' is a good genre movie. Maybe even a little underrated.

'Inside Man' is likewise underrated, as is always the case for Spike.

'Heat,' on the other hand, is a little overrated, and wallows once Pacino and De Niro sit down together.

Not sure I've ever entirely made my peace with postmodern British heisters, like 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,' or 'Layer Cake,' but 'Sexy Beast' is a great little movie.

Sexy Beast is an incredible movie. One of the best of this century. Inside Man and the Town are often-played DVDs from my collection.

For heist movies you really need to check out The Score - with DeNiro and Gene Hackman in David Mamet's "Heist."

On the subject of foreign heist films, 'Bob Le Flambeur,' 1956, is among the best ever made.

This might be widely known and I am being pedantic, but The Killing was a huge influence on Reservoir Dogs.

What about the hit 1995 film Heat?
