Seems to be the case for so many people who choose to be on the wrong side of history. Augusto Pinochet, Fidel Castro, and Francisco Franco (who is still dead) all died relatively peacfully and at advanced ages.

Society is free to reassess the stories it tells itself.

I'm glad they won't destroy the mural, but the systematic eradication of the native peoples of North America is more complicated - and much bloodier - than "westward expansion" or "manifest destiny."
