It says something that I listed four which were absolutely stone classics and that we have easily named a dozen more that are solid pieces of the rock canon, with more worthy of consideration.

I can't think offhand of many bands who did so much high quality work so quickly. CCR's '69 to '71 run was amazing. Maybe the Beatles, '63 to '66? I can't think of many others who are comparable.

How can you be self-indulgent on your first studio album?

I wonder if Charlie Daniels still plays Uneasy Rider during shows.

Wow, there's really a place called The Jug? (And who can argue with $1 cans from 6-9 a.m.?) My fave song on One From the Road is "T for Texas", loads of great guitar on there, kind of their version of the Allman's "One Way Out" with all the interplay.

One thing he changed is the opening verse for Leave This Long Haired Country Boy Alone
He now sings I get up in the morning, I get drunk in the afternoon
It originally was I get stoned in the morning, I get drunk in the afternoon

No conversation that involves the Eagles is worth having.

BTW, I'd say Emmett Otter's Jugband is Southern Rock.

You were at that show!?! That album is what an older cousin gave me as an intro to Buffett. I wore it out. Then I went through two cassettes and one CD set before moving it all to digital. Hell, I was listening to it on Spotify just yesterday.

That show is my grail when it comes to Buffett.

I've never got the Buffett love. But then again, most people don't get my musical obsessions either.
