There’s a reason guys like Amare Stoudenire and Monta Ellis are attempting an NBA comeback. Maybe, after years out of the league, they want one more shot at a ring, but I can’t help but think that it has more to do with the fact that the NBA handed out more than $4 billion worth of new contracts this month.

 

Mike Tyson owns the title hands down.

I don't think even I could piss away $300 million in career earnings. That's a million a week spent over just short of 6 years, which is probably how it went down.

However, I'd keep an eye on Floyd Mayweather.

 

Because the owners are making an obscene amount of money. Salaries are tied to revenue.

 

Especially in the NBA it has to be tough not getting sucked into thinking you'll be making $X mil a year for 25 years and trying to keep up with teammates with bigger contracts and bigger endorsements.

 

With 4 players on many teams, especially the good ones, making a combined 90 million and the other 12 making a combined 28 million, those 12 face an enormous amount of pressure to spend every last dollar in an attempt to keep up.
