After your first post on this, I thought it was being critical of the officiating, which is unusual for you. But I think it's accurate, too -- the game is officiated differently in the playoffs. I'm not talking about the obvious blown calls, just that the refs let them get away with more cross-checks, hooks and holds. And, yes, playoff games have greater importance and there is greater effort by the players, which makes it more physical.

Did anyone see who the three stars of the game were last night? They’re not listed in the boxscore.

Caps trade Niskanen to the Flyers for Gudas.

The Blues will go down as one of the bigger Vegas bloodbaths as people were betting them at up to 300-1 to win the Cup when they were in last place in January. But like you said, there's no comparing reg season and playoffs. So not sure bookmakers will ever go all the way out on those limbs again unless it's a really horrible team.

Salary dump with Philly retaining 30% of Gudas deal.

I bet $20 on the Blues to win the Cup at +135 before the Finals. I hope my $27 profit doesn't break Tahoe.

Was there much money on them at 300-1 though?

Yep. Surprised they even got a player back in the deal. Gudas can be a younger Brooks Orpik-style physical third-pair D. Caps get flexibility to try to sign Connolly or Hagelin. Niskanen's game slipped considerably last year and the Caps were eager to shed the back half of that deal.

Not sure about 300-1, but the most popular story I've heard from the desert was a Blues fan that put $400 down at Paris casino at 250-1 -- a cool $100,000. And he didn't even hedge with the Bruins to lock in a profit, which is ballsy or idiotic depending on your perspective.

As someone who lived with a drunk for years, I hope someone gets Brett Hill into treatment by Monday.
