Some rumblings they are considering dumping the Sparty mascot altogether on the grounds it's inherently too masculine and female-exclusionary. In addition the actual historical basis of the symbolism is really completely male-dominated.

 

I know a guy who was Sparty for a time
Said the heat wearing that thing nearly killed him

 

You'd think a highly advanced technical research university could come up with a water cooling Sparty suit, but not if they're going to junk the whole thing anyway.

Supposedly they've done some focus testing on a "female version" of Sparty and the results have been somewhere between ridiculous, pathetic and spectacularly offensive.

 

They can have a Sparty and Spartette. Could be fun for both.

 

This is a fine example of dumb shit administrative thought. Campus rocked by a horrific sexual abuse scandal? Let's change our mascot. Problem solved!!!

At this point maybe they should kick Michigan State out of the Big Ten. What a disgrace of a university. MSU leaders make Graham Spanier look like a Boy Scout.

 

It's straight-up foolishness from the trustees, trying to settle on the cheap.
