    Seals are covered by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1974. It would take an act of Congress to change their status, and since seals are cute (in pictures only, up close they're kind of gross), few Congressmen wish to see baby seals in their opponents' attack ads.

    There was a former poster here who was virulently against the culling of seals in Canada :D

    Sounds like they're becoming the bambis of the sea. If we need to whack some seals to keep great whites away, I am all the hell for it.
