Good job at a solid paper. What they don't mention: must tolerate the smell of a big paper mill, and 100-plus degree heat for at least three months. Don't be fooled by its North Idaho locale ... Lewiston gets HOT.

Why does it get so hot? Are they not at elevation?

You are correct. Lewiston has the lowest elevation in the state of Idaho, and it doesn't get much rainfall, especially in the summer. It sits in a valley where the Snake and Clearwater rivers meet.

Newsflash, it gets quite hot east of the Cascades and in the upper midwest in the summer. It's not unusual for a 140-degree swing from winter/summer in the Dakotas or parts of Montana.

Paper mill? The smell of sulfur hovering over you during the three hottest months of the year? Gross. Pass.
